Justice 250 is a special event coming to the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Registration will open at 5:30pm, while boarding onto Midway for registered ticket holders will begin at 6:00pm. Ticket holders will have special after-hours access to the Flight Deck and Hanger Deck of the USS Midway Museum, and be able to enjoy food and beverages, enjoy free access to Air Combat 360 simulators, meet with community partners, and celebrate our great nation together.
The purpose of Justice 250 is to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the groundwork it laid for our U.S. Constitution. The spark of an idea was to bring together the entire local community to celebrate the history of our nation, our judicial system, its role in our democracy, and the rule of law.
This event began development in late 2025 and has been a true collaboration among numerous prominent members of our San Diego legal community. It is co-hosted by:
- United States District Court for the Southern District of California
- Superior Court of California, County of San Diego
- California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One
- San Diego County District Attorney’s Office
- San Diego County Office of the Public Defender
- San Diego Office of the City Attorney
- United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California
- Federal Defenders of San Diego, and
- San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA)
Justice 250 will feature speeches by prominent California legal community leaders who have committed to the event. The primary goal is to have attendees from across our community learn about their Constitutional rights and legal resources available in San Diego County, including business leaders, school children, veterans, and anyone interested in learning more about our courts.
Major funding for this event is thanks in part to the Joseph J. Wheeler Educational Fund for Civility, Integrity and Professionalism. Learn more companies and institutions sponsoring the event.
We will also have booths set up from up to 40 various “Justice Partners” such as the SDCBA, local bar organizations, law schools, and other legal organizations and community groups where the attendees can learn more about their good work in expanding access to justice and accessibility to our courts. Numerous entities have committed as Justice Partners.
Justice 250 is also designed to promote confidence in the judicial branch and give the citizens of the County of San Diego an understanding of the court system so they are comfortable using it.
